February 12 - Scout Sunday Pancake Breakfast

Posted on Feb 2 2023 - 10:14pm

Each year Troop 181 and our charter organization, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, join together to celebrate Scout Sunday.  Please join us Sunday, February 12th, at 10:00 at St. Christopher's Church for a Scout Sunday service.  ALL families and faiths are welcome and encouraged to attend.  The service will be followed by a pancake breakfast, prepared by the troop and other volunteers, in the church hall at approximately 11:15 AM.  Please support this great tradition and community event.  Scouts and leaders should wear their Class A uniform.

February 24 - Cabin Camping at Camp Tuckahoe

Posted on Feb 2 2023 - 10:14pm

Make a plan to join your fellow Troop 181 Scouts the weekend of February 24, 2023 for winter cabin camping at beautiful Camp Tuckahoe located near Dillsburg PA (about 30m from Gettysburg).  The troop has booked a state of the art cabin (Hemlock Lodge) from Friday to Sunday.  On Saturday we'll either go hiking/exploring around Gettysburg National Military Park or hiking along the nearby Appalachian Trail.  Either way we'll have a blast!

May 13 - Azalea Day Set-Up

Posted on Feb 2 2023 - 10:14pm

We are grateful to help St. Christopher's Episcopal Church prepare for their annual Azalea Day, moving items from the church out to tables.  We might also assist with setting up tents/canopies.  This is a wonderful opportunity for Scouts to earn some service hours for rank advancement, but more importantly to support our charter organization.

Citizenship in Society Merit Badge

Posted on Oct 20 2022 - 10:54pm

On November 1, 2021, BSA introduced the Citizenship in Society merit badge.  The new merit badge encourages Scouts to explore important topics around diversity, equity, inclusion and ethical leadership and learn why these qualities are important in society and in Scouting.  Beginning July 1, 2022, the Citizenship in Society merit badge will be required for any youth seeking to achieve the prestigious Eagle Scout rank.  This replaces one of the elective merit badges, Eagle Scout still requires 21 merit badges.
