July 2 - Summer Camp at Resica Falls

Posted on Mar 23 2023 - 1:10pm

Summer camp is the highlight of the Scouting year!  We are supporting our Council and going to Resica Falls July 2-8 this year.  Join us for a top-notch first-year summer camp program to complete lots of rank requirements through First Class, or choose from more than 70 merit badge opportunities, including many required for the rank of Eagle Scout.  Enjoy the Polar Bear swim each morning as well as evening programs [open swim, open shoot (archery, rifle)] during the week.  We are tentatively planning a pre-camp meeting on May 22 for our campers.  Resica Falls is one of our favorite summer camps, and you don't want to miss it!  Registration for merit badges opens April 1 so sign up today!

May 19 - Camping (Marsden Tract Group Campground)

Posted on Mar 23 2023 - 1:09pm

Our May campout will be at Marsden Tract Group Campground in Potomac MD.  We have the option to take our bikes and pedal to Washington DC to visit the Mall area.  The campsite is nestled in the woods between the C&O Canal and the Potomac River.  More information and registration can be found here.

April 29 - Backpacking

Posted on Mar 23 2023 - 1:09pm

Our April trip is backpacking in Wharton State Forest (Pine Barrens) in New Jersey.  This one-night trip begins Saturday morning to grab gear, travel to the park, and hike to the campground, leaving vehicles behind.  We will begin our scenic six-mile backpacking hike to the Lower Forge Campground, set up camp, and plan our afternoon and evening activities.  This is a great trip for all levels of backpacking experience.  We will allocate time during our April troop meetings to prepare for the trip.

April 15 - Gladwyne Clean-Up Day

Posted on Mar 23 2023 - 1:09pm

We will be walking the streets of Gladwyne picking up trash and placing it in large trash bags that are provided and which we will carry.  We will select routes from the map at the meeting place and travel in small groups to help clean up Gladwyne.  Hoagies and drinks will be provided around noon, or when we finish our service.

May 13 - Azalea Day Set-Up

Posted on Mar 23 2023 - 1:09pm

We are grateful to help St. Christopher's Episcopal Church prepare for their annual Azalea Day, moving items from the church out to tables.  We might also assist with setting up tents/canopies.  This is a wonderful opportunity for Scouts to earn some service hours for rank advancement, but more importantly to support our charter organization.
