Welcome to Gladwyne Troop 181

Troop 181 has been active on the Main Line since 1921.  In addition to teaching Scout skills, our monthly campouts might include backpacking, biking, canoeing, rock climbing or whitewater rafting, in addition to Council events.  We also have a week-long summer camp at Resica Falls or another local Scout facility.

To join our troop, you must have:

  completed fifth grade and are at least 10 years old, or
  earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, or
  reached age 11, but have not reached age 18.

The sledge is ready to be loaded with all the gear you'll need to navigate through various "towns," where each Mayor has a problem and needs your help!  Demonstrate your knowledge of Scout skills, including knots and lashings, first aid, and fire building.  Other challenges require effective communication, teamwork, and leadership.  You will need to build a fire to cook your lunch.  Gold nuggets are awarded based on your performance.  Check-in begins at 9:00 AM and the event is expected to end by 4:00 PM.

University of Scouting (virtual) on February 5

University of Scouting is supplemental training opportunities for all adult Scouters.  It is the only time during the year where you can find, all in one place, the widest variety of training opportunities.  The fun starts at 9:00AM and continues until 3:45PM, spread among seven periods, each beginning at the top of the hour; all for only $8!  Click here to find the course catalog and to register for one or more sessions.

MLK Day of Service - New Date February 13

Troop 181 will meet at The Harriton Preserve at 500 Harriton Road in Bryn Mawr, on Monday, January 17 from 10 AM to Noon.  We will work on vine removal and general clean up.  Please dress warmly.  Bring your work gloves and pruning tools.  We will work in small groups, led by Lower Merion Township’s Shadetree Commission and Environmental Advisory Council members.

Patrols representing Troops and Crews throughout the District can challenge the Scout's abilities to perform first aid in simulated real-life situations. Eagle Scout Court of Honor

On March 20 at 1pm, there will be an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at St. Christopher's Church to celebrate Miles and Eli earning Scouting's highest rank.  These ceremonies are always great, and if you haven't attended one before, you won't want to miss it.

Use Calendar Sync Function to Stay Connected!

Easily stay connected to the Troop 181 website calendar and get automatic updates. Simply log into the Troop 181 website. On the left hand side  "User" menu click "Calendar Sync". Next - under Calendar Type choose your particular calendar application from the drop down and then click "Create Calendar Feed" at the bottom of the page. Final step - click the iCalendar Feed link and you're done! Simple and easy to do. You're now synced!
